CRYPT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1973) AKA HANNAH, QUEEN OF THE VAMPIRES-
This scared my Brother and I big time about 45 years ago, but sadly it hasn't aged well. Spanish film shot in Turkey was in color, but for whatever reason, Mill Creek had this version in Black and White. While it does add some atmosphere, the night scenes were almost impossible to follow.
Andrew Prine visits an island to bury his father killed under mysterious circumstances and ends up breaking the seal of a tomb containing a long dead vampire and the long ponderous way the menace is stopped. Some shades of THE WICKER MAN in here and actor Mark Damon (HOUSE OF USHER, THE VAMPIRE'S WEDDING-He later became a Producer) is OK and interesting to find out that Director Ray Danton was also an actor who was married to Julie Adams (CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, BEND OF THE RIVER and the Elvis Presley film TICKLE ME) at the time.
Also in the same vein as TWM , Andrew's character is abrasive and incredibly condescending to the locals; along with the 70's style clothes, the slightly poofy hair and the mustache, my wife had to remark that He looked just like John Holmes! **
