It's heartfelt, and feels right at home in the existing universe...the guy has realised he's made mistakes...and while it's taken years kind of wants to channel his energy into something good - and isn't Daniel an insufferable prick?
I do like that they're trying to resolve things to a point and shit just keeps happening...I actually really liked that one episode where they hung out together, they had good chemistry.
I've only seen maybe 2 episodes of the second series, but fully intend on seeing the rest...the netflix deal is going to get this show a lot more attention than the youtube red failure ever did. I'm glad. It deserves it.

It’s funny that you call it heartfelt because, although I agree, I found it really mean spirited. Everybody are total pricks at one time or another. Zabka most of all and at the same time you can’t help feeling sorry for him when he takes one beating after the other mentally. Daniel is not really an asshole he just has it all while Johnny is the bad apple who has always been down on his luck, or so it seems. But yea, I sure hope they end up as buddies.
Also the boyfriend/girlfriend issues aren’t as black and white this time as all 3 involved are actually likable characters. Doesn’t Johnny’s son remind you of Jonathan Brandis by the way?
Oh, and the soundtrack is aaaawsoooooome!
