MULHOLLAND DRIVE (2001). Despite some extraneous scenes that don't add anything but running time, this David Lynch film starts well with two women , one an aspiring actress (Naomi Watts

) , the other an amnesiac (Laura Elena Harring

, she reminds me a lot of the older classic screen beauties) who meet and try to figure out why Laura has a large amount of cash , a blue key in her purse and why a particular name means something. Lots of noir elements-mysterious shadows, shady characters, wonderful photography-involved and an extremely sensual love scene between the two.
After that, the weird stuff begins and it's all but impossible to figure out what's going on. I'm all for ambiguity, but up to a point and many Lynch films often are too vague, turning it into a chore to watch. This has a good reputation and it's worth seeing, but pisses Me off knowing it could have been so much better. **
