It goes kinda like this:
Night of the Living Dead: The horror is just beginning...few zombies (in general), and many humans. In the end, the humans are able to survive, but there is still no explaination as to what is causing it, or how to stop it.
Dawn of the Dead: Zombies are multiplying rapidly now (ie zombie bite, dead, new zombie) The number of zombies are now rivaling the number of living people. People are no longer trying to defeat the zombies, but rather are trying to get away and survive. There are a lot more zombies now. Now it is about survival.
Day of the Dead: Zombies now greatly outnumber living humans. The epidemic has become an unbeatable plague. A few survivors take shelter in an underground military research center and are trying to wait out the problem. Scientists are trying to understand the zombies, and perhaps find a cure. There is no cure.....mankind is facing extinction.....the zombies are taking over the world...
SOOOO...I am hoping a remake of Day of the Dead would keep with the storyline...or at least with the basic idea...I think the Dawn remake was great.....more of a modern spin on the original.. they did not have the helicopter this time though...oh well...the original is still a good movie to watch over and over...

Well, like I said, there IS going to be some kinda spin off of Day Of The Dead from Taurus the production company that produced Romero's orginal. Doesn't sound like a good idea, but I am kinda curious about it. What I've heard is that its set in a different continuity, features the traditional slow and stupid zombies, and involves the zombie virus producing more kinds of mutations then just zombies. I am curious about this, but its curiostiy that gave me the cruel fate of sitting through Children Of The Living Dead and House Of The Dead (though HOTD had enough nekkid chicks to preserve my sanity).
Of course, lets not get too excited about Dead Reckoning getting its backing. He's still gotta release it, and that's a whole 'nuther battle.
