Well, being scared while watching a horror film, and a scary film isn't necessarily the same thing.
You have to set your environment up before you watch. Different for various people... but usually you want late evening, alone, quiet room, quiet house, & be determined to envelope yourself into the story & empathize with the characters.
Various things frighten people... only knowing Thir13en ghosts was scary, I'd recommend The Exorcist, "Amelia" the 3rd segment of the 3 anthology film Trilogy of Terror (
