Phantom's Review: I gotta admit, I was a bit disappointed with this film. It's definitely NOT a bad movie, It's beautifully filmed, great atmosphere, fine acting from the whole cast and some truly marvelous set design, the only problem...it isn't the least bit scary. The film is more along the lines of a psychological thriller that just happens to have a couple of ghosts in it. I was expecting a few more BOO! scenes and the film just didn't have them. Like I said, it's not a bad movie at all and had been expecting this kind of story, I probably would have liked it more, but wanting a good Halloween scare, I came away wanting. It's worth watching on DVD,but nothing more.

Talk to him about influences, and he’s more likely to cite Henry James than Stephen King. “Gothic romance is a curious little beast,” he notes. “It’s a mix between the atmospherics of a fairy tale or a horror movie and a love story that reveals the darker side of love.”
