question for the inked ones of hdc...

when the hell can i scratch ???????????????????????? :p

got my first tattoo done almost two weeks ago and the itching is driving me insane!! so when? huh? huh?

leatherfacetcm 09-17-2004 02:01 PM

your tattoo

i have 32 tattoos and trust me for two weeks that shit will itch like hell but do not itch it!!!! The reason it itches is because a fresh tattoo is like a deep cut, the dead skin needs to peel so the new skin can grow. just keep applying the ointment (i suggest a/c ointment) and enjoy your tattoo!

thanks for the advice but... i still can't scratch?!

32 tattoos! damn... but i'll admit, it is addictive. i'm already thinking about my second one. even after 2 weeks i still can't scratch?? :p and my tattoist told me to apply the ointment for the first three days only and then to start applying lotion, which i've been doing. wonder which is best...

trust me man, it's addictive as hell but trust me whether you stick to ointment or lotion it will help you in the long run not to scratch because i've seen people scratch at it and end up with a gnarly infection.

that, right there, just convinced me not to scratch :p *in a whiney voice* but it itches... lol

oh, another question while i'm at it... when will the ashy appearance disappear?

leatherfacetcm 09-17-2004 02:16 PM

that ashy appearance should disappear by between 2 to 4 weeks. it depends on the person, everyone's body is different so the time for that ashy look to go away differs from person to person

thanks, man ;)

*desperately tries to ignore the itching* :p

leatherfacetcm 09-17-2004 02:20 PM

the itching should go away within the week. just keep applying the lotion and keep in mind how kick ass your tat will look after resisting the itch, anytime you need advice i'll be around
