Thoughts on (horror) movies of the past year?

I think it was a rather weak year for horror.
There were some good movies, yeah. But nothing really blew me away like Deathgasm did the year before.
Best movies I saw weren't even horror.
One thing that seems to keep happening, are good non-US releases.
En Man Som Heter Ove, Er Ist Wieder Da, Me And My Mates Vs The Zombie Apocalypse, Attack Of The Lederhosen Zombies,...
The Autopsy Of Jane Doe had a European director.
I'm wondering what surprises we'll get this year.

I thought it was actually a pretty good year.

The Witch
Autopsy of Jane Doe
Under The Shadow
Blair Witch
Conjuring 2
Hush
Lights Out
Ouija: Origin of Evil
10 Cloverfield Lane
Train to Busan
The Wailing
The Monster
The Shallows

I consider that one a thriller.

I feel it was great year for horror films, for me at least. Mixture of indie and underground with a sprinkle of mainstream. : )

You're on a whole other level.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's pretty cool.
Often get the feeling I'll have to go all 8MM in order to find a copy of the movie you saw.::big grin::

I think given the ending and the way the movie operates, it definitely qualifies as a horror movie. Besides were just arguing semantics as this point. Its not like arguing whether or not Super Troopers is a horror movie.

Immune to horror...damn it!

I've yet to find an actual horror that can scare me. They are all predictable, with similar plots. I was really looking forward to Annabelle and that let me down, it wasn't even scary. Nothing like what others had said about it. Then I was looking forward to 10 Cloverfield Lane and that was utter rubbish, no scares in that either. Same for so many of the ones that were out in 2016.
Psychological horror turned out to be better last year, with Hush and Don't Breathe. They were both well done. Though I didn't jump through any of them, they still held my attention and were really good. For me personally I like movies like they used to make ie Wolf Creek and The Hills Have Eyes, though they weren't scary as such they were F'k up in the best gruesome kind of way, my kind of horror movies lol much like Evil Dead excellent, comedic, full of true horror stuff. I am pretty sure I've now become immune to the new horror's ha ha damn it!::stick out tongue::
