Repeating movie poster theme
Ever since Cabin in the Woods there's been a repeating movie poster theme I've noticed for horror movies involving a house. Anyone else noticing it? I think there's more than these two, but kinda lazy right now. I'm guessing they think it'll get more people to watch the film if they associate it with the high caliber of Cabin in the Woods.

I noticed too.
Things like that happen quite often. Did some googling and found this http://www.shortlist.com/entertainme...-movie-posters |
Yup.

Yeah, I've noticed this too. The Cabin In The Woods poster is pretty nice. At least they're ripping off quality. Lazy bastards.

Can we talk about how many posters copied the For Your Eyes Only poster?

At least CitW had an original idea and intriguing design. It doesn't jump out and say 'hey this is a horror movie', but at the same time the bizarre set up of the house and the absence of anything else around it make you uneasy, as a horror movie should.
Your other two examples however... sheesh! Look up 'subtle', guys. Throwing skulls and bloody knives on your poster does say it's a horror, but it does not MAKE IT a horror. ::roll eyes:: |
movie posters tend to fallow trends and if there is a movie that did really well people try to make their movie look like it might be a similar movie so try and get the fans of the first movie to see their movie. it makes sense but it is a bit lazy and i think the over all quality of movie posters has been pretty weak in recent years. this annoys me because i really like movie posters but i guess i like the "cabin in the woods" poster so they could be ripping off something worse. ::devil::
