Green inferno

Has anyone seen the green inferno? Is it worth the trip to the movies?

I enjoyed it. It has some good gore and humor, and it's a nice homage to old cannibal movies.

I really enjoy Eli Roth's work and want to see it. A nearby theater showed it but I couldn't afford to go see it. I will check it out when it comes to dvd.

Not as brutal or disturbing as I expected but as horcrux said, it's a pretty decent homage indeed.

Agreed.

Could have done without the short surprise during the credits, but maybe Roth is aiming for yet another franchise. Which is probably fine.

Just wasn't very realistic.

[SPOILERS]

The mid credits scene was stupid. He's planning a sequel called Beyond the Green Inferno, and I'm all for that, but he could have just showed the sister finding Alejandro maybe at the beginning of the next movie. But her randomly finding him on a satellite image was laughable.

[END SPOILERS]

I don't really understand the complaint that it wasn't gory enough because it was really gory for a mainstream horror movie. Maybe it wasn't on the level of the Evil Dead remake, but it was pretty damn brutal. It was about as gruesome as his other movies.

What bothered me the most was the tone.
The mix of serious horror/drama with "comedy" just didn't work imo.
Should've been a serious horror or else an over-the-top gorefest.
And the ending sucked.

P.S. "It relieves the tension."

You should watch more movies. It's really not that gory (it probably is compared to haunted house and ghost movies ::wink::).
And from what I've read it's not much compared to Hostel. Guess that's why so many people are disappointed. But I haven't seen Hostel so I can't compare.

horcrux2007 10-29-2015 02:44 PM

Hostel is less gory than the Green Inferno. I guess people were expecting something like August Underground or Grotesque.

I was pleasantly surprised with the movie. Definitely a good movie to have friends and a few drinks for.
