Favorite Horror Movie Location?

Location, location, location. Every good horror movie knows well that the right place can scare you just as much as any machete wielding madman or flesh starved zombie.

So what is your favorite horror movie location? Everything from the classics of Freddy's fiery boiler room or good old Camp Crystal Lake to the frighteningly isolated like the forsaken ship Event Horizon or the Antarctic Outpost 31 from The Thing. Everyone has a favorite and I'd love to hear them.

Sound off in the comments below.

A few of my favorites to set the tone.

The Boiler Room (A Nightmare on Elm Street)
Camp Crystal Lake (Friday the 13th)
Sawyer House (Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
Outpost 31 (John Carpenter's The Thing)
The Event Horizon (Event Horizon)
Overlook Hotel (The Shining)
The Glass House (Thir13en Ghosts)
The Cabin/The Facility (The Cabin in the Woods)
Nuclear Testing Town (Hills Have Eyes)
The Cube (Cube)

I could list more but I don't want to spoil the fun...

I just watched Mercy last night. It was based in an old Farm house, somewhere in New York. It was pretty beautiful.

Pet Sematary ---- The Cemetery and the Indian Burial Ground
House of 1000 Corpses --- The house and the tunnels underneath, and Captain Spauldings, and Red Hot Pussy Liquors.

I watched The Bone Yard. One Of the classics made in Statesville N.C. I even went to the building where they filmed it.

Big cemeteries!

I have to add this: if any of you are filmmakers looking for awesome scenery and live in Illinois (or are willing to drive), my home town of Peoria hosts one of the largest cemeteries in the state. It's AMAZING. I can't believe it hasn't been used yet.

Wooded areas, hills, trails, broken stairs from a high section to low, wildlife (bats, deer), pet cemetery, military, tombs, mosques, a terribly sad baby section, SO MUCH. I bike and hike through it regularly when the weather is nice.

Here are some pics, and seriously: remember me. I'd love to take a group of filmmakers on a tour through all the hidden gems. I'll share just a couple pics so as not to take up the whole feed :)

I can forgive many a horrible horror script if only it takes place in a creepy gothic/ Victorian mansion
