WHAT WERE SOME OF YOUR STOCKING STUFFERS

Some of my favourites were mandarins, foil-wrapped chocolate money and my mother would find the tiniest notebooks and little pens or pencils that I treasured. I love making up xmas stockings for my grandkids now.

(meant to write FAVOURITE in thread title)

::big grin:: I honestly don't remember what I used to get in my stocking when I was a kid!

I remember all those things Bloofer remembered, as well as candy and those little tiny cheeses from different lands- I loved those.

And as I got older I would get little gadgets- tiny puzzles, a pen with a light on it... things like that.

Candy canes. Always liked my Halloween loot better though.

Never, I do remember the "gadgets" that my brothers would get..exactly some of the stuff you said! I don't know why, things just seemed so wondrous coming from those stockings. To me, anyways, because at that time I really believed!

I've always gotten candy and maybe some money in my stockings. My parents would put cassette tapes in there too, whatever music I asked for. I still get candy in there and maybe some jewelry, like earrings.

I just remember the orange...

The best 'stocking stuffer' ever was homemade chex mix from my Aunt Gail. Had all the chex types, pretzels, nuts and rye-bagel pieces with plenty of the butter, Worcestershire & spices baked in!

She knew how to make it 'perfect'. It's homemade, fits any shape & not expensive. Can't beat that!

I bet your aunt would be well pleased that her mix made a lasting impression on you at such a special time of year. ::smile::

The oranges in the xmas stockings were said to represent the gold, formed in the shape of balls, that the original St. Nicholas donated to the poor. And candy canes symbolized the shepherds crook used by the bishops of the Catholic church.
