FEARnet shutting down

In case you haven't heard, FEARnet is shutting down. From what I heard, the end of July is their last day. This might be the first public announcement, but I'm not sure. I already knew about it from my job.

What do you think about this? Did you watch FEARnet much, and if so, on your cable TV or online? Are any of us part of their online community or active on their Facebook Page?

I know I would watch an occasional FEARnet movie on Comcast on demand, and once in a while would watch a short online. I subscribed (Liked) their Facebook page, but didn't post to it, or post to their website.

I'm a little bummed because now there won't be as many horror movies for free on demand. Also, I guess we should expect a wave of new members. Should we welcome them or tell them to go to Bloody Disgusting? :P ::smile::

That really sucks. I'd go on there and read reviews and just kinda surf the site.

That's true. I forgot to mention the blogs and reviews. That's probably what I used the most too. They had some pretty good articles, added frequently, and Scott Weinberg's reviews are all over Rotten Tomatoes and linked from IMDb. I wonder if all those links will be dead soon.

A Chiller and SyFy channel fan myself but worried this is a sign for the future. Welcome fearnet refugees to horror.com. :halloween:

Pretty disappointing, I watched quite a bit on there. R.I.P. FearNet :(

When I had cable I would occasionally watch the cable channel. I watched more content on demand. To be honest, I thought most of the films they showed were pure crap, though once in a while they would get a bunch of Asian horror, and even more rarely some good older films. I also liked the shorts they featured on demand. There was more creativity and variety in the shorts than in the feature films. And the things they produced were just abysmal.

I found more interesting horror films to watch on Turner Classic Movies, Sundance and Independent Film Channel. In a general way it's too bad a large outlet for horror is disappearing, but maybe something better will replace it.

I don't have cable, haven't for a very long time. So I've heard of FEARnet but never really used it. I found other review spots, like rottentomotoes give a wide variety of horror film reviews. I have netflix, and I'll rent online or DVDs for horror.

I think this post makes it pretty official.

As NE said, too bad to see one of the bigger horror outlets go down, but I agree, they could have had better content. On average though, I thought they always had at least one or two films worth watching at any given time (or in most cases, re-watching since I'd already seen most of their better stuff), and the selection of shorts was always good.

I have Roku and there is more horror films and channels then I will ever be to watch.

The cable horror channels like Fearnet and Chiller are pretty dumb not to have horror hosts. Lots of people ask for them but they never listen.

Not sure why they'd come here seeing as the main page hasn't been updated with any news/reviews for 2 years? Probably one of the main reasons this board has been pretty quiet.
