Threads

Just wondering if anyone has seen Threads. It's not strictly horror, I suppose, but it's one of the most horrific things I've ever seen. It made me feel quite ill, and it's still fairly topically relevant today. But be warned if you're tempted to seek it out, it's incredibly bleak. I've never actually seen anything more depressing. However, it is very, very well done (especially considering it was made in the early 80s).

Anyway, I'd be interested on opinions of anyone who has seen it.

Been meaning to watch this for awhile now. I seem to remember a few people mentioning it on here so they'll no doubt have something to contribute soon.

Wrong thread.....

I've had the dvd for years now. Tried to see it once, but never got through it due to its slow pace and lack of action.

Maybe some day...

Horrible film...

I watched it again about 6 months ago to see if it as still as disturbing and depressing and yes it was..Wy better than The Day After.

I wasn't a fan. I preferred the remake of On The Beach.

It scared a whole nation at the time and was so frightening i suppose because nuclear war was a real threat. It would be interesting to watch it again now.

Might do a double feature with The Day After sometime. I vaguely remember The Day After from when I was a kid.

Watched it a few times and started a thread here about it a while back. It's very grim, I agree, but well worth watching. I'm pretty fascinated by nuclear war but didn't fully consider the implications of a bomb on the generations after in the detail this movie shows. I mean, it's easy to say "and then there's a nuclear winter" but when you see it in this film, when you see everything in this film...it stays with you. I've recently bought it on DVD as well...only £4 from Amazon which is pretty good considering it'll probably not be shown on TV anytime soon.

If anyone wants to see how a nuclear winter will affect our children in the future check this out-though its a difficult watch. You can mute the music if you hate Sigur Ros but it's interesting to note that MTV banned this music video)....
