Wes craven

Who knows WES CRAVEN's films?

I'd say most people who are familiar with horror. He's a legend due to his earlier work such as Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hill's Have Eyes, The Last House on The Left, The People Under The Stairs and Scream.

But i think now he's mostly become a joke with horrible movies such as Cursed, My Soul To Take and with all his movies being remade. Also Scream 4 was a huge disappointment at least to me.

i don't think having your movies remade makes you a joke; if anything, having your movies remade is a further testimony to ones influence and longevity in the field.

i love wes craven, but like you villain, i have been unimpressed with the last ten years of wes' career. but that's ok; for my money, from the beginning of the 70's through the late 90's/early whatever you call 'ems, wes was making important, meaningful movies. thirty years is a long time to contribute.

two of the things i enjoy most about wes' movies are his explorations of fractured families, and their failure to support and properly care for one another. i also appreciate wes' persistent presentation of strong, resourceful female characters.

I agree with you with the remake thing except i also think that old classic horror movies get remade because Hollywood has nothing left, not to take anything away from the movies being made though. The point i was trying to make was that it seems like Craven has nothing left but to remake his movies, i may be mistaken but i think he's had a hand in his remakes thus far. His newer movies that have come out have been terrible, even just the ones that he attaches his name to for some reason like They. Although i did like The Breed.

But he will always be a legend and Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream are two of the best horror movies ever made and even though i have lost faith in the man, whenever he puts out another horror movie i'll be sure to check it out and probably subsequently hate it much like My Soul To Take which i still saw in theaters despite my beliefs of the mans dwindling talent.

yeah, i'm a little afraid to see my soul to take. i have heard mostly terrible things about it, and at best, only lukewarm positivity. but since it was written and directed by him, i would really love for it to be good. it's sittin on my dvd shelf. i'll watch it one of these days...

I have heard that some people have liked it. I myself hated it, it was probably the worst movie i saw last year. But judge for yourself.

Yes, I saw it at a videoclub and read the backcase and it was a poor plot.
Sorry Wes.
