Names...

OK, this one may sound stupid, but really makes me curious... Well, right, at least on the not so obvious cases... LoL

My question is... Where did you guys get the ideas for your screen names?

Arioch 04-22-2004 05:52 AM

The Elric Saga, a group of fantasy/horror books my friends got me into. Think Lord Of The Rings with a horror twist.

Arioch is the main characters patron diety he calls on him when he needs help, but Arioch is a fickle god, and seldom helps him:p Great books.

Micheal Moorcock if anyone was wondering...

Elric of Melnibone, yes...

Yours made some sense to me already, but I definitely appreciate your consideration... And of course it's always good to find someone else who read it... Really difficult here where I live.

I have always thopught my name was pretty cool, but it has probably the dorkiest roots around.

Back in '99, i got into online gaming. I went through a bunch of names, but eventually started using "Vlad O'Vostok", thinking i was clever making an irish/russian name.

I got ridiculously hammered on New Years that year, entirely on Vodka, so i decided to make it "Vlad O'Vodstok".

I realised that Vodstok was pretty cool, especially without the nerdy "Vlad O'" moniker at the beginning, and it just stuck. I use it for everything. Even named one of my sites after it :) (http://vodstok.net, if you were curious)

Here too man. Im always surprised to see the lack of Moorcock in any of the bookstores here, his official website has but 300 members on it, including himself. And i do believe me and you are the only 2 people on here that know who he is. There used to be 2 other guys on here that knew about him, but they are gone now....

That'll all change once the movie comes out, trust me....

Plaguewind 04-22-2004 06:25 AM

Hey, I didn't even know there was going to be a movie... That's really good news...

3 of them, via Lord Of The Rings. Moorcock said he would never do films of them but then he saw LODR and was impressed with their job of bringing such an Epic tale to the silver screen.

Hes already hired the directors, i forgot who they were, but they were big fans apparently. And moorcock is going to have a big role in the films, hes even talking about a cameo as Smorgan Baldhead, lol, they are in disscussions with Universal right now about budgets.

Well, be sure my day's much brighter after that, my friend... Thanks a lot! :0)
