Best "Ripper" films?
I'm an amateur "ripperologist" -- student of the history of Jack the Ripper -- and would like to find the best films on that subject. They don't have to be necessarily historically accurate, just entertaining.
Thus far, the Hughes' brothers "From Hell" is the best I've seen, nicely frightening, with the actual Ripper murder scenes reproduced as accurately as possible. Good acting, good production values, etc. make it the best Ripper film I've seen. The worst was this movie about the London Bridge having been relocated to Lake Havasu City in Arizona, and the Ripper's spirit or ghost or whatever was also transported and he's rampaging the town there. It's been on cable twice and I was unable to watch the movie all the way. Of course the funniest is the scene from "Amazon Women on the Moon" where we learn that Jack the Ripper was actually the Loch Ness monster! What Ripper films would you recommend, and which have been awful? |

I liked Jack the Ripper with Michael Caine, it was made for tv, great movie thought.
