like why people are fans.

Performance artist and the tunes make me laugh.

I've got no answer really.

I was a huge fan awhile back when I was a total waster. Nowadays I'll throw on the album he did with ANTiSEEN or Carnival Of Excess once in a blue moon but to be honest I'm rarely in the mood anymore. He does have a handful of totally epic "Fuck You" tunes.

I always found the sheer pissed off hatred of people, society and well... everything in his songs appealing because I (somewhat) can relate to that.

Just the sheer OTT idiocy of everything he did/said is pretty fucking funny to my warped sense of humor.

I second this notion of "why?".

There's plenty of awful music that brings up that question of "why?"

Like why do people like Deathcore or Techno...?

Never really dug GG's music but the dude was punk as fuck. He was pretty funny with his verbiage and I liked his shock value for sure. That's about it.
Sucks he died like any other rock star and not by public suicide. As he always claimed he would.

Have you guys watched Hated? I think it's one of the more interesting music docos out there. It's cool that it got made because it puts a bit more of a perspective on what made him tick rather than just going by random youtube stuff.

I've got it on a tape that also has Fugazi's Instrument on it. One extreme to the other haha but two of my favorite music related films.

I would say people are fans of GG mainly because he was 100% true to himself. He did exactly what he wanted and didn't care what anyone else thought. He didn't give a fuck about anything. Not society. Not laws. Not the fans. Not even himself when you get right down to it. He was punk incarnate. All those other bands that called themselves punk were but a mere shadow of GG. There was nothing fake about GG. He went balls out and that level of honesty really connects with people.
