Couldn't be more wrong, it's a fun throwback slasher that manages to feel retro without trying too hard. The pace is methodical but unless your thirst for action must be sated every 20 minutes you should be fine.

Yeah, really.... It was so well paced. I don't understand people's need for constant action when build up and suspense are much more effective. And there is action, it's just for as in your face as most modern horror movies. There were certainly some parts that were violent and I did not see them coming, and I really think that was a cool contrast. You spend most of this movie anticipating what's to come, and nothing terribly big happens. In other parts you're expecting nothing, and violence comes in one big bang (pun intended). Ti West did such a good job on this one.

Obviously if you dont like great atmosphere, anticipation, shock, camera angles, score, use of wide lens, or Tom Noonan in you horror movies i could totally see your point.....Unfortunate for me though seeing how i like all those things

Movies really don't scare me anymore, but I thought this one was genuinely creepy. It had what more modern films should have. TENSION... this film has tons of it! And it pays off at the end with some awesome violence and bloodshed. Very well made!
