Sai

I got these weapons last year or maybe 2 years ago.
Can't remember.

They are not cut to size but I can work with them.
The heaviness actually feels good.

No one in town or near here trains with them.
So far, internet searches for training vids, come up very inferior.

Anyone out there have any DVD suggestions or, hell, even books?

I am also thinking of joining the ju jitsu place and they do twice a week kickboxing (including muay thai-woohoo!)
Looks like the only weapon they train with is the bo staff though:(

That is such an awesome thing to have, but I don't think I can help you there.

Why do you need them anyway?!

Cause it is a shame and borderline crime to look at my beautiful weapons and have no idea how to use them.

Yeah it might be hard to find a class that teaches them..

I did Ju Jitsu for about 4/5 years and all we did was the 2 staffs, tanto and katana. I really never saw a place that taught that weapon as part of their syllabus.

I remember Panther Video had a Sai instruction but I'm not sure if they still exist. Looking on google I did find this. Though I'm very sceptical of the majority of TMA instructional vids/dvds..

I could ask about on the MMA site that I'm a member of if you like...

Yeah, ask them, that would be great, THX:)

Not sure about that video either, if only it had a 'preview' ...

This ju jitsu place doesn't actually 'offer' bo staff classes, one of the teachers knows the skill, would be a matter of private lessons I suppose.

This place is mixed martial arts but offers very limited 'mixed' as far I am concerned.
But it is what I have to accept -living in a small town.

This is what you are looking for?

Send a kiss to the lovely reflection in your mirror, and I will consider it as the "Thank you, V." :)

Oh, and, be sure to hide them on our dinner date.

I saw this guy before on one of my searches
He's ok, but a bit slow...
I wish one of those guys that train people for martial art movie roles would make a video...I mean , think about it-they train actors for a few weeks well enough to seem like they trained for years.
Just not fucking fair to us merely human peepoles. ppphhtttt

heh,dinner date: yeah, hide them...:D

Yeah MMA doesn't have any weapons in it - it is purely a sport designed for fighting full contact in the ring or cage. It is usually a blend of Striking (Usually based on Muai Thai or Boxing), clinch/throws/take downs (Usually based on wrestling or sometimes judo) and submissions (BJJ). That being said it is prolly the most efficient way to train combat sports...

I'll post today about the Sai - not sure if there will be much response as these days there are few TMA ppl left there....Another suggestion would to find a Traditional Martial Arts board for Japanese styles - that would prolly be the best bet for a place to steer you in the right direction..
