Bah- Forry wouldn't allow it while he was alive, so they waited till he was dead. It's blasphemy.

When did FM stop publishing?

At least the editor was a fan, so he will try and do it justice.
It will be interesting to see what how the mags will turn it out.

No, it will be a retread, without the spirit the creator of one of the most influential magazines ever published imbued it with. There was only one Forry Ackeman, and he put his heart and soul into every issue he edited, in a very concrete way.

Forest lost control of the magazine once and the resulting product, produced by someone who called himself Forry's number one fan, was such a hatchet job Ackerman sued to get the rights back, and he won.

Yah, it'll be "interesting" to watch- much in the same way it's interesting to watch maggots feast on the dead and decaying body of someone you loved.

Well, if it's done poorly, it won't be around for long Lee.
So that's good thing:cool:

Uncle Forry wrote nearly every word that went into FM. There's absolutely no way to recreate the charm of the original. And if you're not going to do that- what motivation is left?

The simple desire of greed. It's a cynical, money grubbing attempt to cash in on what FJA created. It's disgusting.

Elvis_Christ 01-10-2010 05:34 PM

So I take it you're not down with this happening then NE? :D

If you feel that strongly, maybe a petition is in order. The people that want to re-issue might think twice.
You make a good argument Lee, that never even occurred to me.
