NY Resolutions

C'mon, what are they?

*I also thought I'd add the following to save some one/s the effort of typing the same thing as always...
While I'm sure many people are aware that they could put into action NOW what they've put onto their NY resolutions list, some prefer to work towards something from the ground up, some work towards specific goals that have been deliberated upon for a while, some people are already in fact on the way to obtaining these goals.
So, NY resolutions keep getting made, and if you feel like you don't need them that's all good - but each to their own etc.

Me, I used to be like that "fix it now, why wait?" etc about NY resolutions, but then when you think about it, it's not always that cut n dry...some things take time, and sometimes you simply can't think about everything you'd like to do/attain all at once...so for me, these days, I like to think of them as
"Things I want to get done this year at bare minimum".

I'd like to say it's actually interesting writing down your NY reso's and looking at them a year later. I believe I carried out only ONE of my four completely, the others are work in progress...though I'm glad I got that far.

My reso's for 2010:

*I wanted to say "buy a chambered nautilus" but...not sure how much a big tank and everything else I'd need would cost, so that one's just on my eventual TO-DO list.

*Join a gym
....So over the last 6 months my girl and I have taken to walking, ever 2nd night we'll take an hour long walk over uphill/flat/downhill...it's not much but it's a lot more than nothing and I feel it's benefiting our overall health and fitness greatly.
I also lift dumbells at home and do a few situps here'n there.
Though, a gym just has more stuff, a more structured environment, and you're less inclined to slack off if you're paying for something I'd say.

*No more soda
Last year I cut down significantly, this year I'm done.

*No more smoking
Heh...for the first time in ages I puffed on a joint last night. This prompted the decision to add this one...see I've gone over pretty much completely to vapourisation and I have portable edibles for when I go out and feel like bringin' on some effects so I just do not need any smoking whatsoever, so it's another one gone from barely any, to none at all.
I live near a city...pollution and second hand will do enough shit to my lungs.

*Get my goddamn fucked up tooth pulled. Finally.
I even backed out of it last year 'cos I didn't wanna have it pulled while I was awake...been there, done that, and it's a fucked up experience no matter how much you "don't feel", so I got a referral to a place that's gonna gas me, and it'll be taken care of.

*Fix my nose.
Internal deviated septum.
It's been needed for years...effects my sleep, becomes more prone to blockage from little things, I've just been apprehensive as I've never been in for any kind of surgery before, and a septoplasty (read up folks) REALLY doesn't sound pleasant...so, to work myself up to this, I'll get the tooth done first, then that.

*Animal services.
Last but by no means least, to continue my companion animal services certification, join up, stay with course, get good results.

So that's mine.
On a side note, I'd have added "need new tv and current gen console" but they seemed a little materialistic. If I handle my budget correctly there's no reason I won't be able to get those things anyway.

So here's the thread...what are your NY reso's and why?

Lose 20 pounds
Finish a novel and a screenplay
Start writing more short stories

Make some money

I've never been to New York, so I'm not about to plan anything about NY now.

Just the usual.

- lose 10 pounds

I guess thats pretty much it.

1. Be honest to a fault.
2. Stop procratinating and initiate hostile takeover of planet.
3. Be the best global tyrant ever.

Guess that's about it. i may resume eating meat and drinking liquor, but then again, that might be a little unrealistic. Ashe.

Social Networking:
Start a 365 blog of either self portraits or a drawing a day.
Hit 200 followers on twitter. (These kinds of goals are important to me, as I hope to continue persuing web design on my own while I work on my Librarian career path and I meet a lot of helpful people online.)

Education:
Transfer over to General Arts and sciences and start taking the online classes I need to become a librarian.
Maybe take a class on something interesting like typography as well.
Get high grades and don't skip classes like last term.
Read book and learn things on my own.

Personal stuff:

Eat better.
Work out.
Gain weight (muscle).
Don't be pescimistic.
Treat my bf better (not that I treat him bad, but he always deserves better.)
Seriously start up my hand crafted accessories business.

Maybe I'll just steal Doc's... Those sound about right.

Mainly I'd like to:
  • Lose weight (significant/noticeable weight - drop a size or two)
  • Work out at least 4 or 5 times a week
  • Write more (actually start AND finish a short story or screenplay)
  • Yoga/meditation (I'm happy when I get into a good yoga/meditation schedule)
  • Read more (I have my list of "must reads" - now I want to FINISH them)
  • Eat healthier (more protein, less carbs)
  • Cook at home more, eat out less
  • SAVE MONEY instead of blowing it on stupid stuff

BTW Garret - Mark got me the Magazine of Bizarro Fiction for Christmas - CAN'T WAIT to read your story and the other stuff in there. :) Still working on paying off my credit card and then I'll purchase your books as well.

The Magazine is great. I can't decide whether Issue One or Two is better. I'm biased toward issue one for obvious reasons, but Mykle Hansen and Gina Ranalli's pieces in the second one are incredible.
