I do not think Elvis or anyone is the king of rock & roll...there is so many people that have contributed to rock & roll history.....here is a link you might enjoy reading:D

Well, everyone knows that Rock and Roll was stolen from African Americans. I would give that title to someone such as James Brown or Chuck Berry.

Oh, you mean "Little Richard"?

Yes, he contributed a great deal as well. But he was more Pop than anything else.

opps sorry about that.

I dont think rock and roll was stolen from anyone.....I also dont think there is a "King" of rock and roll. R&R draws from a variety of different genres from blues (BB King) to country (Woodie Guthrie) and on down the line through folk.

I don't care if he's the king or not, I just can't stand his music

Ditto Elvis blew.

Well, nowadays the country music scene claims Elvis as their own. So, I guess you are right in the original post. Also he didn't die until '76. By then we had REAL ROCK like Led Zepelin. Elvis certainly wasn't considered ROCK in his later years.
