Sony Pictures have announced they will turn board game Risk into a big-screen movie.

The studio announced yesterday that they've acquired the Hasbro property, which sees players amass armies, occupy territory and vie for world domination. On a board.

Sony big cheese Doug Belgrand said: "The strategic thinking and the tactical gambles that players must take in the game are what make 'Risk' a classic, thoroughly engaging game. Those elements translated into an action-packed, thrilling story are what will make this a uniquely exciting movie."

Some of the other board game-to-movies we can look forward include Monopoly, Battleship and another version of Clue.
