This might be of interest to the UK people....

These guys are screening The Thing and a few other oldies like Scarface and The Blues Brothers.

I wish the cinemas over here would take note and play some classic shit like this.

saw Jaws at the CIneworld in Dublin last year - it was the worst print I've ever seen in a theatre. The film skipped 15 seconds or so and we missed the whole first appearance of the shark when Brody is throwing the chum over board..

It would be cool to see the Thing at the cinema, but I won't be here then. But there is a good cinema in Melbourne, the Astor, it does double bills everynight, showing old movies and some more recent ones that have left the cinema... They used to do Friday night horror movies at a cinema in Federation Square as well but I don't know if they still do....

^^ I'll have to check that place out when I make it over there at some point.

Lame that's one of the moments that would make me want to see it on the big screen.

I have a monthly card for that Cineworld group. Basically its €20 a month for as many films as ou want - the GF has one too.

When I first got it - it was great. I mostly went to the cinema on my own and i f I did wanna book there was a phone line and it cost 50c to book your ticket.

Now its a pain. They dropped the phoneline (they said very few people were using it it.) So if a film is popular you can't book by phone - you have to physically go in with your card early that day (you cannot get tickets other than the current day) and book the film that way. You also cannot book on behalf of someone else with their card. So that means both people must go in to get the tickets.

I used to love the card system butnow its a pain in the ass.

Yeh, the Cineworld near me did the Blues Brothers a few days ago. I think The Thing is next on the agenda.
