I need someones help remembering an old movie
 

I have never posted a thread so I apologize if this is done wrong.

When I was young, I was scaried out of my mind by a movie scene. It consisted of a hound (dog) howling and someone dieing, by a thrown knife, I think. I don't think it is the Hounds of the Baskervilles as I have watched both the 39 and 59 versions.

The specific scene showed the image of the hound's head on a curtain like a projection. I remember something about "when the hound howls, someone dies". Is it a Baskerville that I have not yet seen? It is an old movie because the special effects of the dog's head on the curtain was not to today's standards. I'm guessing pre 1970 as I remember what grade I was when I became too scared to look out my window at night.

I would not bother you good folks except that it has been bothering me for years!!!!

I am begging some expert to tell me the name of the movie so I can buy it and "get this puzzle out of my head".
