pirate flicks

Besides the obvious (POTC), any recs for some good, gritty, non-Disney pirate movies? Thanks. Ashe.

Not exactly gritty but the 3 Hammer films are good - The Pirates of Blood River-Captain Clegg -Devil-Ship Pirates.

The Isalnd with Michale Caine isn't bad (not exactly traditional though).

Iguana is pretty gritty...I was let down by it personally, but a lot of people LOVE it.

If you're looking for offbeat pirate flicks, might be worth looking into.

Pirates (2005)

Purportedly the porno film with the biggest... budget ever - at a whopping $1 million dollars. It contains:

Pirates (one of them with no legs)
A Pirate Hunter
CGI Skeletons and technology

AND

The lesbian scene that won the Best All-Girl Sex Scene Award at the 2005 AVN Awards.
