Do Horror films cause children to be violent

there have been meny events where the media have clamed that horror films have caused extreme violence in children. In this thread i am trying to find out what everyone thinks to this? i shall start off the Thread with a few questions. Do you think that there is enought censorship stopping children watching violence in horror films? Do you or have you ever watched a horror film that you are to young to warch and has it had any effect on you? and do you think there is anything into todays horror films that should be included?

Horror films only cause violence in violent individuals. The sort of person who will kill people because he saw Freddy Krueger do it is the sort of person for whom Speedy Gonzales would be telling him "Arriba! Arriba! Smack the old lady next door with a hammer!" I saw Hellraiser at 8. I had nightmares. Then, I recovered. A properly disturbed adult who watched that movie would take out his eyes with a fork. The only people who shouldn't watch horror films are paranoid schizophrenics and members of the school board. Oh, and Leonard Maltin. He just doesn't get them. It's a big waste of everybody's time.

I know I committed my first murder at age 4 after watching The Fly. I kill one person every time I watch a horror movie and it feels great.

No.

Anyone with common sense knows that movies are made to be watched, not reproduced in real life. If a parent doesn't teach their child it's all just actors and scripts then they shouldn't be a parent.

Yes, but reading books makes me want to cause violence even more than movies. Rap music also makes me mistreat women and sell crack. I'm pretty much incapable of making my own decisions, so I allow the media I'm currently experiencing to handle that for me.
