Just a spoonful of sugar...

...makes the medicine go down...

Why are kids and teenage girls attracted to lollipops?

Why does the thought of a large, fudge-covered, finely chopped nuts filled sundae make our mouths water?

Why are candybars and sweets so yummy on Halloween nights? Why does one glance at the King Size choco bar in the mart make our mouths water?

Exactly how big a role does sugar play in our lives?

And if you are a diabetic, are you happy? Especially if you are standing among plenty of non-diabetic friends indulging themselves happily into sugar coated foods?

Chew on this for a minute.

I'm not a diabetic........yet. But I already told myself I'll probably get it and die from it--because I'm never giving up sugar...now I'm not just talking things with sugar like chocolate, and icecream, etc. I'm talking eating pure sugar. Since I was 3, I would take spoons of sugar and devour it from the sugar dish. Sad I know...at least I was doing it to myself.

I'm not a sugar freak, although I seriously need to drink less Cocacola. I don't get squirrely when I see candy bars, sorry :(

Same here. I'm not that big on candy. But I love Coca-Cola too.

I love seeing diabetics cry about their diabetes. I'm like "you know what I do when I'm feeling down? Oh wait you can't do that, you'll die" ;)

diabetes always seemed like the disease to joke about, I don't have any real friends with it and it's not in my family.

I took Derek to the ER today and there was a 10 year old kid who just found out he was diabetic across the curtain from us. He was asking all sorts of questions about what he can and cannot eat. Had to cut down on rice and potatoes and other carbs, plus close to no sugar or candy. He was so sad, broke my heart.

I know I can live without sugar. When I had my braces, I didn't eat any sugar at all for 3 years. Didn't really miss it, because there are always alternatives. Sugar free pop, carob in stead of chocolate, a lot of candy made with splenda. (Not a huge price difference either, if you know where to look. ) Now that I have my braces off I still prefer a low sugar diet. Putting sugar in my tea or eating a high cocoa percentage chocolate is the most sugar I eat. Sweet foods do make me happy, but I'll have an apple usually when I'm down.

My parents have diabetic, they are controlling it now pretty well I guess and my father often 'like' to tells me.."Don't worry son, one day you'll have it too!"
I'm not a sugar freak but I like to have 3 to 4 spoonful of sugar on my tea mug everyday.
