DC's Suicide Squad - the movie
 

Yet another comic property is heading to the big screen, with Warner Bros. optioning the rights to DC Comics' Suicide Squad.

According to Variety, Justin Marks (the forthcoming Street Fighter and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) is penning the screenplay, with producer Dan Lin planning to turn the comic into a franchise.

First created in 1959, Suicide Squad centres on a team of incarcerated supervillians who are handed a second chance by the government. Charged with a task too dangerous for superheroes, they must bury their various hatchets and work together to succeed.

Steven Gilchrist is co-producing together with Jon Berg at Warner and Gregory Noveck at DC.

Too good to be true. Hope it pans out.

I've been on the lookout for some of the comics.

Ok, Not horror, but it should be a great dark DC movie. Has anyone else been following this? Some people are complaining about the pictures so far, but I think it looks good. Im just hoping we can get a trailer soon. Oh and Margot Robbie looks fucking great as Harley Quinn. Its not your classic Harley and its not Arkham Harley, but you can blame them for not wanting to do the exact same thing that's already been done.

Any line of Batman comics would make an excellent dark film (his enemies being all blood thirsty and batshit nuts). Haven't seen one since the Tim Burton days when he did Batman in 1989 and Batman Returns soon after, but that was a while ago and when he still knew what he was doing. Closest I've seen to a good dark DC film is the Arkham games (which you actually could watch as movies on YouTube).

Batman will make a small cameo in Suicide Squad, but it is very much about the villains. People say they look to thugged out like a gang, but I kind of dig it. I'm really hoping for good things here.
