Scariest of listed movies

Note. These are the American names but I will be getting the foreign version. Which one is the most frightening? I ask because the only foreign movie I have really seen is Rec, Orphanage, and Ju-On. I want to see the others but my brother things they will be lame because they are foreign so I want the first one for him to watch to scare him shitless so he will watch the rest.

-Shutter
-Dark Water
-One Missed Call
-Pulse
-The Eye
-Tale of Two Sisters

Feel free to suggest any others.

The Eye was cool. One Missed Call, Pulse & Dark Water sucked. I haven't seen Shutter but it looks lame. I haven't seen Tale of 2 Sisters, but I've heard good things.

Pulse and The Eye were both great.

If you're looking to find out about Asian horror you might want to browse through the Japanese Horror forum- it covers all Asain cinema, not just Japanese.

See, I thought The Eye was boring an overrated.

One Missed Call was OK but didn't really do anything for the genre (nor did it really try to; it's Miike's version of big budget Onryō).

Tale of Two Sisters was a bit overwrought and overrated and its American remake looks abysmal. But people like it. A lot. I was disappointed.

Shutter was fantastic - Creepy, scary, derivative, but very very good. I ABSOLUTELY recommend if you want a nice ghost shocker.

Also to check out (in Asian):
  • Three... Extremes
  • Rinne (Reincarnation)
  • Du saram-yida (Voices)

French:
  • À l'intérieur (Inside) <- HIGHLY recommend
  • Ils (Them)
  • Frontière(s) (Frontier(s)) <- (I personally wasn't a fan, but I know it appeals to people)
  • Haute tension <- (I personally wasn't a fan, but I know it appeals to people)

Also, depending on what you mean by "most frightening" (you DO realize how general that is, don't you?), that could include "gory and fucked up." Check out Ôdishon (Audition).

And I'm with Neverending - Go to the JA forum. Got a LOT of good recs from people in this thread:

You're right. My brain is so fried.

I KNEW it was French, too. Why did I post it as German? :o I'm going to update it now because that error is going to drive me crazy. Thanks, Mr. A. :D
