Haunted Houses

Okay, I have never been to a professional haunted house before. I have done haunted barns, corn mazes, haunted houses in peoples houses, haunted hay rides, haunted forests, and actual ghost walks. All that cheesy stuff.

For my birthday my friends gave me two passes to Nightmares Fear Factory on Clifton Hill. According to BDTV ep 11 it is a really good time, Rue Morgue Magazine says "you can save the best for last or just come here first..."

I am pretty excited to go. I've been hearing it is Ontario, if not Canada's scariest haunted house. Has anyone been? I need to know if I should expect any clowns, because I would feel really bad if I kicked or punched an actor just for wearing a red nose.

Sounds like a good time! Careful of the poor actors though: we're a fragile breed...

I've never been to that particular one, but I went to a professional haunted house in Salem, Mass. a few years back - FUCK it was cool. Anamatronic werewolves coming out of walls, life-like little men in jam jars, and the craziest tour guide EVER - he was scarier than anything in the house itself.

Enjoy yourself MM!

I am sooo excited now. I've been reading up on it, and it's self guided. The only instruction is to follow the red lights. Apparently you will get in some rooms and the lights will flicker and turn off, so you are stuck in that room with all these actors until you feel around for the exit. There are rickety bridges that you have to walk over, you need to crawl through little tunnels at some points, and the whole thing is pitch black. As far as I have read, the only thing that might really fuck me up is that at some point there is something to do with a dog. Since I was attacked by my aunt's dog as a kid, I don't know how well I will take that. Also I plan to take some pictures with their hearse that they keep outside. :D

Oh, a haunted house attraction is one of the bestest things in the whole wide world! I love going to those things! I try to go whenever I have the chance. You'll have fun I bet!

I've only ever seen one haunted house here in England, and it's been closed for at least ten years. I was too young to go in but my sisters both said it was brilliant. You're gonna love it. You have some good friends!

When I was younger, my aunt ran one that won Best in Illinois for four years or so. I used to work in it every Hallowe'en season, which was a blast.

I love those attractions, despite how outrageously expensive they are nowadays.

Anyway, Missmacabre, scary clowns are usually a staple of things like that, so be on your guard!

OMG omg. So I just now finally went to Nightmares. I forgot my camera so I didnt get any pics of the fancy hearse outside. If you ever go to Niagara Falls (Canada) go to Clifton Hill and go throught Nightmares. Best time I have had in forever.

I mostly laughed the whole way through because a) that's what I do when I'm scared, and b) my biyfriend's sister is hilarious when she is scared. They have mics throughout so that they can hear if you yell nightmares and come get you, but that way the people in the lobby can hear everything.

Just a few of the things she yelled were "I'm gonna puke" about 100 times. She screamed and an actor mocked her so she yelled "don't you mock me! I don't like you". Then out of nowhere someone grabbed her from behind and she yelled "I'm so scared I'm gonna give birth out my anusss" and I lost it. I had to stop to laugh.

Also I was in the middle so I had my left hand broken cause Lyndsay was squeezing it, and at one point there was a hairpin turn inthe dark. Derek went around a corner, something scared him and he jumped but my arm wasn't totally around the corner yet and he almost pulled it out of the socket. Still kinda hurts.

Haha! Sounds fun. Wish I could find a professional one. Money wise: Worth it?

Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. And your boyfriends sister...well. At least she's wiser for the experience. As in, she knows never to go to a haunted house again! :D

sounds like an awesome time!

I build an amateur one every year for my kids' elemtary school and it's pretty scary. Kids and Parents scream their heads off and several kids are reduced to tears... good times!

If I could go to haunted house attractions all the year round, I totally would! Nothing spices up an evening like that.
