Remakes

I normally would say that I hate them, but I have to admit the ones that are coming out lately are really good. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a great movie, but I think I liked the remake even more. Dawn of the Dead is looking really good as well. Other remakes that turned out well are 13 Ghosts (even though it was really a different plot all together), and House on Haunted Hill.

But on the other side of the coin the remake of Night of the Living Dead was awful.

Here is the question though: Are remakes a good thing or should they leave classics as classics?

I reeally liked the NOTLD remake. Not as good as the first by any means, but I think i was just as good in many ways.

NEWAY!!

Depends. I think the people that were involved with the original should be involved with it (I think that is why I loved the notld remake)

I don't know... I'm inclined to feel they should leave classics as classics, and focus on remaking (if they feel they just HAVE to remake something) movies that just weren't very good in the first place. Then there's the opportunity to improve on an idea that may have been cool but just didn't turn out very good.

I liked the House on Haunted Hill remake alot though. It was more a minor classic I think, and while I loved the original it WAS a decent pick to remake due to the FAR better special effects we have available now compared to 1958.

Another remake that sucked was The Shining. I don't think I know any one who liked this one.

Very similar to MY thoughts Killer...We can still have both...One doesn't replace the other...We just end up with more movies...Not a problem for me:)

suck ass

Lets not all worship the gods we all reviere as the best horror creators of the remakes, Instead lets all worship the gods of originals.... every "new" release of this past couple years are remakes of older movies..... how about this Lets come up with some original Ideas for the public, and not take focus off the originals. if you beleive a remake is better than i say YOU have not seen the original and for that you should be strung up and gutted for the world to see
