First Pooch?!
November 11, 2008
Ever since president-elect Obama mentioned that his kids are getting a puppy, dog lovers around the world have been panting with anticipation to learn what kind of dog will become first pup. Obama, who described the decision as a "major issue," is on the hunt for an allergy-free dog, since daughter Malia is allergic. Seeing that Obama is the first "global president," it's not surprising that the Fido frenzy has gone international. Peru has suggested its native Peruvian hairless dog, a bald, toothless breed, which actually looks cuter than it sounds. (You can get better acquainted with the breed here.) The country even has a specific dog in mind. http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids...1571606815.jpg Nicknamed "Ears," the four-month-old has been offered formally to the future first family in a letter sent to the U.S. Embassy. If the Obama girls reject the Peruvian pup, we hope it won't create an international incident. But if the Obamas want to go American, there are plenty of allergy-free dogs to choose from. In fact, Yahoo! searches on "list of hypoallergenic dogs" surged over 3,000% as the curious researched on their own. Lookups on "goldendoodle," another low-allergy breed, increased 200%, as well as searches on "obama goldendoodle" and "goldendoodle rescue." As Obama mentioned himself, the family's preference is to adopt a dog from a shelter. A shelter dog would likely be, as he joked, "a mutt, like me." It may be the first difficult choice of his presidency. But at least this decision will come with unconditional love. Oy vey...! Someone call Chrono. |
Aww he's kindof cute! Cuter than Chrono's ugly ass cat at least.

Obama and the kids should just get an allergy prescription. Itll make life easier in the spring and fall also. |
I think that thing looks more like a reptile than a dog...no problem there...

"Little dogs" like the two mentioned on the other hand, in my experience are quite fussy and annoying with diet (I'm sure there's some exceptions though), I think most people have a problem with the fact that MOST of them are walking piles of inferiority complex. YAPYAPYAPYAPYAPYAPYAP. Shit, even had a chihuahua think it was a good idea to try and bite my foot while I was riding a bike...I don't know what HE thought was gonna happen, but it was pretty funny. Besides, hows a dog that a toddler could bitchslap going to offer you any protection? I like my big dogs, they double as bodyguards. My size pretty much starts with Jack Russell being the smallest, staffordshires...etc...moving up from there. German shepherds would be my favourite purebreads, but in all honesty I generally prefer "mongrels". |
awww it looks like bambi

Bichons are considered an allergy-free dog. Cheerful personality, good with kids, very intelligent. Even matches the White House. Of course the fact that I have one and he is sooooooooooo absolutely wonderful has NOTHING to do with this suggestion. ;) :D
