Pet Sematary on Fearfest

Like many of you I'm sure, I've been checking out the AMC Fearfest. I caught some of Pet Sematary and immediately noticed differences between the broadcast and the DVD. Check out these images:

So, did Paramount intentionally just cut off the top and bottom of the picture? Or did I not have a proper setting when playing back the DVD?

Wide screen and full screen maybe. Or you were one frame off.

Might be your TV- you might have the picture area set too large.

It is widescreen. It just looks stretched cause of the picture's dimensions when taking the screen capture. Even with the black bars at the top and bottom, the picture still cuts off. So I don't know. Maybe this is a common problem with DVDs and their TV versions. On TV, the broadcast usually starts with that message "..It has been formatted to fit your screen." But wouldn't that indicate that the picture dimension would be compressed? Based on that, one would think that the cut-off picture would occur on TV, not on DVD, but it's the opposite at least in this case. Maybe if someone else has the DVD and can confirm what I'm thinking, that Paramount simply cropped/matted without presenting the original widescreen.
