eMule

Hi, my name is Flayed and I am torrent impaired.

I haven't really used any sort of file service since Kazaa. I generally avoid it, but I came across a site that has a ton of rare OOPs to download. The only client they use seems to be eMule. I have no idea what I'm doing here, so any advice?

I know nothing about eMule, but I LOVE my ARES :)

It's very easy to use

It's a P2P, but it's not a torrent

Unlike a torrent, ARES lets you preview as long as you have at least 1% downloaded, so you can cancel the file if it's mislabeled

This sounds similar to LimeWire. But careful, it may prolong the time of other functioning Pcs in the network if you're doing it in your office. If it's your personal computer I assume if you have anti-virsus protection; if it's threatening I'm sure you'd get a security warning. Note: Anyone who gets a hallmark email or any email that's a "postcard" don't open it, someone did it today and it destroyed their u drive, and their harddrive.

Dude if it for torrents then you have to use UTorrent. I'll give you a link. Just simply its got the simplest setup, with the best features, no spyware in the file or anything. hands down its the best one out there. Also I would suggest getting PeerGuardian2 and setting it up to block everything it can, it will block some programs or websites you could frequent but it keeps your computer 10 times more private than it would be without it. trust me you'll sit there and read the list of different ip's and where they are coming from that try to connect to your computer.

I actually have uTorrent. This site wants an ed2k client (whatever the hell that means) and eMule seems to be the most prolific one.

I tried it. Takes 10 times longer to download from than Limewire. I pitched it, but some like it.

You don't need uTorrent for ARES...You don't need anything...You just download it, and use it :)

I can get a movie in an hour or less, if it's something that lots of people have...Takes a little longer for old or obscure things...It just depends on how many people have it really

Could you link me so I can take a look at it?

I've been using ARES for 5 years...Not one bug yet...And now, it's even safer than before...It's not like Kazaa and all those others that are filled with crap...The ONLY thing I've ever had a problem with is an occasional porn file, but I catch them on preview and delete them before they finish downloading

Read about the safety features on ARES

Plus, after a while, you start to recognize the names of people who have the best stuff, and you can search things by using their names

Yeah well, I've had some bad experiences with stuff from p2p programs like that. So I'll stick to torrents.
