Stephen King movies: Yay or Nay?

What's everyone's opinions on Stephen King movies?

To be quite honest, most of them suck (actually, it's mostly the new ones). The Creepshow movies are great, The Stand was awesome, The Shining (original), Thinner, Pet Sematary, The Dark Half, Christine, and The Dead Zone were all cool.

Not to mention that Stand By Me and The Shawshank Redemption are two of the greatest films of all time.

I'm not going to begin to list the bad ones though, I'd be here for a while.

I am a rather avid Stephen King fan being originally from Maine myself. But I have to say, contrary to everyone else in this threat :D that I do like a lot of his movies, new and old. Dreamcatcher is great, I loved it. It was a gorefest and then some, with the whole bad alien aspect mixed into it.

I liked Christine. Rose Red was good too, I've yet to see Dreamcatcher but I'm gonna rent it when it comes out this week.

Yes I do say it is so...I watch movies moreso for entertainment purposes rather then trying to pick them apart. BUT, I do give my opinions on them and will review and pick apart pieces that may or may not have been good or what not if I feel the need, not to contridict myself or anything. In general, I don't watch a movie with a biased view, I wait until it's done and over with before I start ripping it apart. :D

What really is important is who directed the film.

Stanley Kubrick directed The Shining and that is why it was a great film.
