new movies that are throwbacks to old ones

Just wondering if anyone has found newer movies that arent necesarrily remakes, but obvious throwbacks to older movies.

for insdtance, 28 Days later was obviously inspired by Romero's zombie flicks, but the infection didnt kill people, it drove them violently mad, which is actually more akin to his movie The Crazies.

Anyone else noticce anything like this?

Well I think (as do many others) that Wrong Turn was a throwback to The Hills Have Eyes and of course House of 1000 Corpses was a throwback to many different horror movies.

Good call. House of 1000 corpses was Texas Chainsaw MAssacre with parts added. not a bad flick, but Rob Zombie will have to do better if he want to make movies for aliving. i think he is a much better musician.

You forgot about Cabin Fever throwing a nod back to the 70's.

With a pinch of The Howling and Southern Comfort.

Yeh definatley some Southern Comfort I used to love that movie I'll have to check it out again. I like alot of Walter Hill's films The Warriors, The Driver and 48 Hrs are favorites of mine.

i agree, that wrong turn was a LOT like hills..... but also had obvious parts like TCM (in the house for a start) and house of 1000 corpses is kinda more of the same but much weirder!!!
