Cannibal holocaust

A New York anthropologist named Professor Harold Monroe travels to the wild, inhospitable jungles of South America to find out what happened to a documentary film crew that disappeared two months before while filming a documentary about primitive cannibal tribes deep in the rain forest. With the help of two local guides, Professor Monroe encounters two tribes, the Yacumo and the Yanomamo. While under the hospitality of the latter tribe, he finds the remains of the crew and several reels of their undeveloped film. Upon returning to New York City, Professor Monroe views the film in detail, featuring the director Alan Yates, his girlfriend Faye Daniels, and cameramen Jack Anders and Mark Tomaso. After a few days of traveling, the film details how the crew staged all the footage for their documentary by terrorizing and torturing the natives. Despite Monroe's objections, the television studio Pan American still wishes to air the footage as a legitimate documentary. In order to change their minds, Monroe shows the station's executives the film's final reels, so they could see first hand how the crew's fate came to be.

I would give this film 8/10.

I recently got that edition of the DVD but haven't watched it yet. I saw it awhile back but wasn't overly impressed but another veiwing might change this, especially checking out all the extras and watching a definitive edition (i.e uncut) of the film.

I've always liked Deodato's film Cut and Run a lot more.

The version which is shown is rare and out of print only 11,111 of these was ever made the artwork is beautiful anyone who has this version will know. Disc 2 has lots of extras including a commentary with the Director and stills and many more stuff what I loved with the grindhouse version is you get a free poster with it and the poster is amazing if you do not own this version then buy it.

It's been released again (or isn't too far away) with different artwork. Can't wait to get their edition of The Beyond.

His first account (EXTR3MIST, if I recall correctly) was banned...maybe that had something to do with it?

WOW really - great film but i do prefere CH.

Weird how some scenes for Cut and Run had 2 versions shot - one with nudity and one with out (Class of 1984 did this too).

I want to do a 'Be Kind Rewind' version of the CH Piranha scene and splice it into the DVD for a definative Fan Cut..

That would be cool a 'Be kind rewind' horror version.

Just to let everyone know there is a still photo of the pirhana scene in the extras of the grindhouse version.
