That is so true, Sam...Art imitates life...Women are survivors...We have to be, in order to live in a "man's world"... :)

While I agree that women are survivors and the fact that they're the only ones left at the end of the film may indicate the primordial sense that women will prevail.

However,

The social and physical rammifications and implementations forced upon women by the popular patriarchy are the deplorable. The media is the greatest enemy woman has ever had to face. Note that I said media, not art. The media has been unkind to art as well but at the same time created new outlets for artistic minds. So the media is a tricky entity.

Lets look, though, at the other role of women in horror: the domineering and often insane mother.

Psycho
Friday 13th (to a small degree)
Aliens (even)

Those are only three, but there countless others. The role the mother plays is that she creates the flawed son, sons, or offspring. She's the greatest threat and monster in the film although she's seldom really apart of the movie or whatever.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I could add "The Ring" to that too. I'm not going to, because I'm unsure. Someone tell me why or why not, if you don't mind.

Come on Bloodrayne without woman there would be no man. Women are my reasons for living, I love them all

Sam The Egg 01-25-2004 01:34 PM

Haunted 01-25-2004 01:41 PM

True, but we're talking about women.

Sam The Egg 01-25-2004 01:42 PM

sure, it's always the arguments that support the other side that get ignored
