Terrifying

Now I've watched countless horror movies, some of which are pretty brutal, but I've never been as truly scared as when I heard about this. If you don't feel like reading, I'll summarize. A man was attacked on a Greyhound bus by some wacko. stabbed, gutted and beheaded. That news in general is not so shocking really, but to find out it happened in Canada was that scariest thing that I can honestly remember.

I take Greyhounds whenever I travel anywhere distant, and I often take them alone. I just feel they are safer as a commercial bus line. This kind of shit just doesn't happen in Canada. So here I am, really freaked out and on the internet looking for a news report to clarify what I heard, and give a motive to make this all a little less fucked. What do I find? This article.

Now I'm scared and pissed about that article (I'm sorry, I know not all American's are douche bags, but you guys are used to gun toting crazies on every corner. We're used to the rare shooting in a big city.)

On top of all that, my bus trip to see some friends in Toronto is cancelled because my parent's don't trust Greyhound anymore.

Grrrr.

My wife took a 14 hour Greyhound ride to see me once and she was perfectly safe. You'll always have sick and twisted people out there and they'll manage to strike out no matter what precautions you take.

Oh I'd be taking the bus if I didn't know how worried my mom would be. but seriously, last time I remember anything bad happening in Canada was a shooting at a Quebec school I think. Robert Pickton. and Bernardo and Homolka who lived a 15 minute drive from me and bought the cement they used to encase bodies, not even a mile from my house. I was just a few years old when that happened but my mom wouldn't let me outside alone until I was 12 because of it. She's a little paranoid.

just made me mad that people would say Canadians are wusses, and we should be hitting this guy with our purses. Sorry but that's not safe.

Welcome to American Life, we hear this sick shit alot on the news. And yeah, we're all a little crazy. But listen, you said it yourself, this shit hardly ever happens in Canada. So it just goes to say, you have a better chance of not getting killed on a bus right after one just happened.

Stuff like that happens all over the world. You should see some of the stuff that happens over in Iraq and in South America. Some of the stuff that happens there makes what happend on the bus seem very tame.

I was reading a thing on the web earlier where a man had did the same thing to a girl in Africa a year or so ago. They had pics of it and needless to say it was pretty graphic and disturbing that a human can do that to another.

I find those american comments hilarious, especially when the 9/11 flights were hijacked with wire cutters.

Things like this happen, this just happened to happen on a greyhound bus. I don't think it's got anything to do with the bus. It would have happened either way, just somewhere else. I'd say you're pretty safe.

That's a pretty rough way to die though. Geez. Poor guy. I hope he died early on because that's something no living thing should have to go through.

Seriously, Psycom is right. Canada is ridiculously safe and stuff like that only happens in Canada like once every 50 years. So, this is the time to travel because nothing bad will happen for a long time. Canada made it's 50 year quota.

Plus, you know Greyhound is going to take more preventive measures now just like the airlines did here for 9/11. So go on your bus trip, you'll probably even get a discounted bus ticket now or something.

Just be aware of your surroundings, use common sense and stay away from sketchy people. Sit in the front of the bus.
