Gears of War - The Movie

June 17, 2008

A recent rumour suggested that Len Wiseman was out of the running for the Gears of War directorial gig. Well now it seems those rumours were wrong.

Trade rag Variety is reporting that the Die Hard IV helmer is indeed set to helm the videogame adaptation, with a new writer also joining the project.

Chris Morgan has been drafted in to pen the script for New Line - his previous credits include The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and the upcoming Wanted.

The project, which was initially slated for a 2009 bow, is now set tentatively for release the following year.

Epic Games exec Mark Rein said: "It's like with our games, you can have it right or have it right now."

"We want to get it right. There's no timetable for us. We just want to make as good a movie as we can, and we think [Wiseman's] the guy who will do it."

The sequel to the 'Gears of War' game is out this November.

From what I've heard Tokyo Drift was heads and shoulders better than the second FatF, I even know some gearheads who liked it.

it still felt that it existed for the soul purpose to attract teenagers.

So? Then he made an effective movie because it seemed to accomplish what it set forth to do.

Everybody's allowed to make money. :)

Anyway, this could be a horrible PG-13 cliche-fest or it could be a dark, gritty action/war movie set in the future. I'm hoping for the latter.

I think this will be amazing but only time will tell.If it's anything like the game I think we will all be very pleased.

He could do a lot with it, I would love to see a couple shots behind a running soldier the way they do it in the game. These types of movies seem to get canceled a lot though...
