The Torture Debate

Personally I hate this whole genre trend that has become popularised recently, the films are ridiculous. All they are is images of extreme gore and elaborate death for no reason.

I just wanted to know others thoughts on the matter.

There are plenty of movies that have no gore or death in them at all.If you are speaking only of horror movies its kinda the point of a "horror" movie.right?

agreed the genre really jumped the shark in the 60's with Blood Feast and Lewis' cheap ass gore films.

It's nothing new at all just because it has becomes mainstream doesn't mean it is new..

If you never liked gore then why are you only blaming current movies?

Torture doesn't make a horror movie unless used just right. When it is, well, then it can make a masterpiece.
