Linux?

Does anyone use it?

My son's computer crashed and I had to reformat the hard drive. I installed windows xp but my product key no longer works (make your own assumptions). So it gives me the 30 day warning and I say fuck it. Linux is free and I've always been curious about it anyway. So now his computer is running ubuntu, and the basics were easy to figure out. I installed wine for those windows apps that he can't live without and I'm startig to like Linux. His computer is now my test computer, and in the end I may just give up windows altogether and get Linux on my computer.

Does anyone have any usefull tips, tricks, or advice to get the absolute most out of Linux?

I wish I knew more about computers. I have problems of my own I don't know how to solve.

No seriously. I was gonna get linux. But you get people saying bad things about it, then ya get people saying how great it is. So im like Meh. Isuppose its a personal choice. get it try it, if you like it keep if you don't. don't. i don't know how much of a hassle it would be swaping back and forth though.

Actually, you can install it alongside windows, and at startup you can choose which OS to boot up. Although on my son's computer it's the only OS he has so there is no choice.

So far the only reason I could see to keep windows is because GameGuard doesn't work with Linux and that would keep me from my mmorpg, at least until someone found a way around it.
