Legion

March 27, 2008

Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Tenney, Charles S. Dutton, Lucas Black, Kate Walsh, Adrianne Palicki, Kevin Durand and Willa Holland will join Paul Bettany in "Legion," the Screen Gems thriller that marks the feature directing debut of Scott Stewart.

Shooting is about to get under way in New Mexico. David Lancaster and Michel Litvak produce through their Bold Films banner, and Gary Michel Walters is exec producer.

Scripted by Stewart and Peter Schink, the thriller casts Bettany as the archangel Michael, the only one standing between mankind and an apocalypse, after God loses faith in humanity. Man's lone hope rests with a group of strangers who must deliver a baby they realize is Christ in his second coming.

Deals for Quaid, Gibson and Tenney are being finalized and the rest of the cast is set.

At a press event at the San Diego Comic Con for Sony Screen Gems' Legion, stars Adrianne Palicki and Paul Bettany both told reporters that they're signed on for three films that would turn this into a franchise.
Obviously, the performance of the first film will dictate if we see more.

Directed by Scott Stewart, the story follows a group of strangers stranded in a desert truckstop who must band together to stop an army of demonic creatures out to fulfill an ancient prophecy that opens the gates of hell.

Director Scott Stewart says the film, "will be a hard-R".

Legion will open everywhere on January 22, 2010.
