Eli Roth's Trailer Trash

Release Date: August 22nd 2008
Director: Eli Roth
Cast: Unannounced
The Buzz: An R-Rated feature film full of connected faux horror movie trailers. Eli Roth says he wants to make a film like “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” which he considers “to be the greatest achievement in the history of cinema.” I, like many, really enjoyed the fake movie trailers which were attached to Grindhouse. And I’ve always been a fan of the short form film (ie short film) because if you don’t like it, just wait a few minutes and it will be over and another one will begin. Plus as Roth notes, you can make a trailer full of tentpole moments without all the exposition and connected story in between. Oh, and Roth’s Thanksgiving trailer was hilarious.
Trivia: Roth has said that the film will include another trailer for Thanksgiving, and a trailer for “The Leap Year Killer”, a killer who only kills one day every few years.

Loved the fake trailers in Grindhouse? Read on...

MGM has been confirmed as the distributor for Eli Roth's latest horror effort, Trailer Trash, which he is currently writing.

In addition to the studio, the site lists a release date of August 22, 2008, which has yet to be confirmed.

Trailer Trash is s full-length film consisting of fake movie trailers that all tie together.

Eli says, "TRAILER TRASH was inspired by the two days we filmed "Thanksgiving," which was the most fun I've ever had filming anything.

It is not a horror film, it's a comedy. It will be very R-rated and completely insane, and I'm producing it with Mike Fleiss (who I did both "Hostel" films with), and writing it with my friends Jeff Rendell (my "Thanksgiving" co-writer, who also played The Pilgrim), Noah Belson (my co-creator on "The Rotten Fruit,") and my brother Gabe, who's collaborated with me on everything I've ever done.

I want to make a film like "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," which I consider to be the greatest achievement in the history of cinema. The best part is I get to shoot some new THANKSGIVING scenes, as well as other holiday slasher films I've always dreamed of making but never would because they'd completely ruin me. I can't wait to shoot!"

hmmmmm

not sure that's such a good idea - but I'll pay to find out. At least he isn't gun-shy after the poor box office performance of Grindhouse and Hostel II.

This sounds interesting, I can't wait to check it out, only just under a year away, cool!

Sounds very cool indeed, I loved Thanksgivings trailer, and on fangoria I loved seeing him comment on what he did to get the old school look of it.

I heard he is getting people to do trailers too like Tarantino, Rodriguez, Edgar Wright, and Rob Zombie to name a few.

I think the idea is amazing. It's a mix of a few different things like Kentucky Fried Movie, spoof flicks, and horror movies all wrapped in one.

The Thanksgiving trailer was great, I'm curious to see how they pull off a full movie length of trailers, if anyone is going to be able to do its those guys.

It's reported that Eli wants to direct the whole thing now. No guest directors. The trailers will be tied together, he also stated.
