Horror Recommendations
Hello everybody I"m new here and I was just wondering if you guys could give me some horror book recommendations. I've read a few mystery novels lately that have to do with supernatural and occult like happenings or characters and I wanted to try to get into the horror genre with the same type themes. All my other attempts in the past to get into horror have failed miserably. I don't really like Stephen King and that's who all my friends/family recommend me. I also don't want to read books that have been made into movies such as the exorcist or rosemary's baby cause it ruins the story for me. Supernatural and the occult scare me and so that's why I'm asking for the recommendations.I also don't care too much for short stories as it makes me feel cheated on the story. Thanks everybody and looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Laurell K. Hamilton. Not a bad person , decent with her books. Vampires and St. Louis. I have all the way of to Narcissus in Chains. Still a ton of gore. You can always go with classics Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. I always look stuff up on them before I get too into their writtings. All except for Edgar Allen Poe. His tales are just wicked anyhow. Good Luck.

Or anything by Greg Gifune ...

hey if you are THE rob dunbar - welcome to HDC and I love your books. (of course if you are not the writer - welcome anyway, but forget the thing about the books. . . it wouldn't make sense) |
Poe and Lovecraft have written some great stuff. Early Stephen King was good too, but he's gone down drastically in his talents at writing now. I would also suggest some Ramsey Campbell, M R James, Clive Barker and Stephen Gallagher.

THE Roderick Usher?
Again, I say, "thank you." (Normally, I just get snarled at.)
