Hills Like White Elephants

Has anyone read this? I'm doing a huge lit crit paper on it, and it's extremely depressing. I absolutely love it, and how Hemingway uses all that symbolism to convey the two feelings between the lovers. It's so incredibly sad though! Is anyone else a fan?

I've heard of it, and I love Hemingway.
I think I'll check it out.

I wish my teacher would assign books like that.
He won't even let us read Poe...
:(

No Poe? Egads!

I read this awhile back, it is very sad short story. The setting was perfect, and I really felt for the woman. The last couple of lines still stay with me to this day actually.

It takes about 5 minutes to read. If you want to know anything specific just ask... I've been writing about it for weeks.

Well written little story - I studied it in class as well, but we didn't go very in depth. I like how it never expressly states what their talking about...presented in any other way it would be a pretty run-of-the-mill story, but Hemingway really made it extraordinary.

Good point. If I didn't know it was about abortion, it might have taken a while to figure it out. I mean, you know that it's medical related, but you never get anything direct told to you.
