Women and Horror Movies

Hello,

Im doing a research Project on

"How Horror films today do not follow Clovers Final Girl Theory"

I wanted to ask some horror fans what they thought?

I want to ask you whether you agree that horror films today are harder to read and that the time where the last remain victim is a girl are long gone.

Do you prefer "old" school slasher films; such as the classic Halloween, where Laurie survives?

Could you please disscus!

Thank You very much for you help

It's a hard one to just discuss. I think it could be seen either way. Personally, I think women have gone backwards where horrors films and films in generally are concerned.

There's this new genre often referred to as 'horno' or torture porn. For example Hostel: A film where the first half of it is sex and female nudity. The scene where they're in the steam room (I think, I can't remember exactly) and the camera stays on the male characters faces, but then dips to get the breasts in when the females are speaking.

The camera is still very much 'male' and for a 'male audience' in most films.

Then again this is off the top of my head now. If I think of more examples of it or examples of against the above idea, I will let you know.
