ringu v's ju on? and why
these two are my favourite ghost stories in any genre but i have great difficulty picking between them. i think ju on wins by a whisker as i saw this one first and was totally blown away by it. everytime that girl turns up i literally get a layer of frost on my back

I did not find Ringu particularly scary. Ju-On is an easy win for me.

fair point. ringu is very much a climactic film, but what a climax. i am hoping parts 2&3 are almost as good. i found ju on is shit your pants material all the way through.

Which version of the Ring are we talking? American, Japanese Ringu sequels, or Rasen?
|
Ju-on
Because it's not at any time long drawn, like the case is with all 3 Ringu movies. In my opinion, the only thing they've got going for them are the endings, especially in the 1st and the 3rd one. Pretty damn scary. But between the intro and the ending i found them all to be encredibly slow paced to the point of boring. |

fair enough. like all movies that are recommended to me these days, i'll get it when i've made a dent in the pile of unwatched movies i already have.
|
Neither of them actually scared me at all. My thing was, Ju-on made me think more than Ringu. For scares, the ending of Rason, the second one in the Ringu series, and Ringu: Birthday scared the crap out of me, just because of the little girl. Rings actually scared me more than any of those....x.x

i'll look inot that soon. it looks like ju on wins by a bit. if anyone can top ju on for scares i'd like to hear it. i'm talking the ghostly stuff that gives your spine a chill.
